AMMAN — The government respects and appreciates the right of citizens to express their feelings and anger regarding the war against innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip, Minister of Government Communications Muhannad Mubaidin stressed on Monday.

During a meeting with editors-in-chief of dailies, news directors at local television channels and media directors at the ministry, Mubaidin said that there are certain locations for sit-ins in solidarity with Gazans. He also called on the public to avoid calls for sit-ins at the country’s borders and Jordan Valley areas, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The minister praised the efforts of the local media and their role in covering events in Gaza, as well as their highlighting of marches in support of the resilience of the people of Gaza. He praised Jordanians' support for their leadership and expression of solidarity with Gaza.

The minister highlighted Jordan’s diplomatic efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, to mobilise international support to halt the war in Gaza, prevent its spillover into the West Bank and avert its impact on regional stability.  The Kingdom emphasises the need to open humanitarian corridors to deliver urgent medical aid and relief assistance into Gaza, he added.

Regarding Jordan's military field hospital in Gaza, the minister noted that the hospital is still operating in Gaza, although it has been unable to provide services to patients over recent days due to the circumstances in the strip. The minister said that the military field hospital has been operating in Gaza for approximately 20 years and currently has a staff of 182 Jordanian personnel, including doctors, nurses and technicians.
